Pune, India – October 19, 2011: Persistent Systems (BSE & NSE: PERSISTENT), a leader in outsourced software product development services, today announced the start of a unique four day International workshop (Oct. 19th – Oct. 22nd 2011) in Pune on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis, hosted jointly with Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology and Biotechnology (RGIITBT) Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune.
The NGS workshop aims to familiarize participants with characteristics of data generated by different platforms and its workflows in the varied areas of NGS technology applications. This will help researchers and students develop competency to analyze and compare genomes from various, plants, animals, insects and microbes. The four day event will include the participation of eminent international scientists, academicians and industry experts visiting from USA, Singapore and India.

The NGS workshop is being driven by Dr. Abhay Jere, Associate Vice President – Life Sciences domain, Persistent Systems and Dr. Uday Deshpande, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology and Bio Technology. The workshop includes a series of talks on genome assembly, ChIP-Seq analysis, RNA-Seq analysis and genetic variation analysis. The sessions will be conducted in the premises of Persistent Systems, Dewang Mehta Auditorium, Pune and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology and Bio Technology (RGIITBT) College, Satara Road, Katraj-Dhankawadi, Pune.
